Greanleaf here we are...

And I am not sure I ever want to go hiking again! The trip itself was wonderful; however the chigger bites/blisters all over my body are TERRIBLE! We went with another couple, the Blose's, to Greanleaf State Park. We hiked the harder trail (10 miles) the first day in about 6 hours. It was rough! I don't think anyone has maintained the trail all summer. We hiked through weeds/tree-lets/thorny bushes for more than half of the hike in. If I could have turned back I would have! We saw about 4 armadillos, scared up a buck and Jeff gave a tree frog a ride for a while on his backpack! We made it to our campsite or an area with a place to make a fire and set up two tents! What a relief it was to make it! Before we went to bed we had to empty our backpacks of our food to hang from a tree. I had to bring some food other than dehydrated power bars because I didn't like that kind of stuff and we ended up having around 1o lbs of food! Brent and I filled up a bag just of food alone! The Blose's had a baggie or two of snack foods! We learned our lesson for next time not to bring so much food! Sleeping was DIFFICULT to say the least. It got dark around 7:30 and we were in our tents around 8pm. The tents slightly went downhill to the right and it never really cooled off outside, so it was pretty toasty inside. I woke up about 4 times to tell Brent that it was raining only to have him tell me that it was just the wind and the leaves were falling on the tent not raindrops. We woke up and got around after breakfast and started the hike back in. We went the other way this time (8 miles in 6 hours). It was a little rough at first but then it got much easier. When we were almost back to the car we saw a snake crossing the road. I am glad we saw the snake at the end instead of the beginning of the hike! I would have had a hard time going in otherwise.
(I really have no idea how these pictures are in here. It is really late for me to be uploading pictures.)

That really looks like fun. Thank you for sharing this unique experience. Sorry to hear about the chiggers. I know they can be real buggers. I use to suffer miserably from them. Until I found these guys. They are the greatest. You gotta give them a holler.

You can thank me later.
